Protaras Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Protaras Transportation

This beautiful Cyprus town offers a number of ways to get around on the road as well as good airline bargains. Get the most out of your stay with these bus, taxi, and airport tips for Protaras transportation.

Look for Airline Bargains

Airline bargains to Protaras depends on the time or season. Try booking well in advance, and when you find a good bargain book it. Many times these tickets are limited, so be quick! If you are a last-minute traveler, check the cheapest flights from Olympic, the Aegean, and Cyprus Airlines. All three of them are reliable companies.

Road Tips for New Cyprus Drivers

An excellent way to get around the island is to rent a car. If you do drive in Cyprus, remember these tips. Driving is on the left side of the road, keeping with British and British Commonwealth practice. Driving standards are poor although the roads are in very good condition. Rules of the road are regarded as mere guidelines, so pedestrians should be very careful. In some main roads in the capital Nicosia, drivers may sound their horn during times of work commute and heavy traffic.

Plentiful Bus Options

Travelers recommend a reliable taxi service only if you feel uncomfortable driving or have no other alternative, as taxis are expensive throughout the island. Buses, however, are plentiful. The Intercity, Red Bus Cyprus, EMAN, and OSEA Transport Organisation bus services are available to take you to Protaras, Ayia Napa, Phinikoudes, Larnaca, and other cities. Some routes take you across the North-South border, so be prepared with documentation.

Island Travel Tours

EMAN Travels and Tours also provides a guided tour service that starts in May and ends the last day of October. Their daily excursions are very popular. Tours include visits to Famagusta and Salamis, the Bellapais Abbey in the north, and Kyrenia. A passport or European Union ID card is needed for trips in the North.  Meals are not included, but infants up to age 2 go for free.
