Tips on Grenada Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Grenada Warnings and Dangers

Grenada is an island country in the southeastern Carribean Sea not far from the northern coast of South America. It is actually comprised of the main island and six smaller islands around. The island has changed hands many times over the years as a colony, mostly under British and French rule. Because of its tropical location, it is a popular tourists destination. It is usually pretty safe, but there are still some things to be aware of while you are there.

Limited Parking in St. George’s

St. Georges is the capital and most important city on the island. It is very crowded and there is not a lot of parking available. You may want to take a taxi to your destination because the parking can get pretty loose at times. If you have to park, there are pay lots on the edge of the city and at the airport where you can store your rental vehicle during your stay.

Be Careful with Electronics

Not every country runs at the same voltage with their electricity. Like England, the electricity there runs at double the voltage of electrical outlets in the United States. Because of this, you will have to get a special adapter for your electronically powered devices. If you don’t, you risk blowing a fuse and rendering them useless.

Money Matters

The currency in Grenada is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar. Some business charge by US Dollar and some charge by EC Dollar. Be sure that you are paying attention to which currency they are asking for or you could end up overspending on your purchase. Most places that charge ECD will let you pay with USD by doing the exchange math and charging you that price.
