Reims Shopping: Shops, Stores, Best Buys and Inside Tips

Reims Shopping

The Reims City Centre is home to over 400 shops and is the largest shopping center in the Champagne-Ardenne region of France. Shoppers from all over the world have plenty to choose from and will share their inside tips for best buys in the historical city’s bountiful shops and stores.

A Culinary Adventure

Reims is world-famous for its champagne and chocolate, so these items are appropriate gifts to bring back home. You can purchase liqueur-filled chocolate champagne corks and bubbles. Another specialty is the light and delicious little pink cookie known as Biscuit de Reims. The main shopping district is located around Reims Cathedral, where French kings were crowned for 1,000 years. Nearby streets to browse are the Rue de Vesie, Cours Langlet, and place Drouet d”Erion. Various specialty shops run by generations of families sell their culinary delights here. Biscuits Fossier, Langlet, and La Petite Friande are among shoppers’ favorites.

Other Shopping Delights

The Galeries Lafayette is a large, elegant department store where is it great to spend time. It was built from an old warehouse and has kept items of the former function. A nineteenth-century style mall has shopping arcades with covered passages to make shopping possible in all weather. If you’re in Reims during the Christmas Shopping season, be sure to check out the Village de Noel. Outdoor stalls feature local crafts and food which shoppers can sample and purchase.

Modern Conveniences

There is an internet cafe in downtown Reims where you can email and fax. Clique et Croque, located at 27, Rue de Vesle, has tons of computers available for use. The computers come with European keyboards, but they do have American keyboards upon request. The prices here are reasonable – you will often pay less than a euro for your time. The cafe has food from Croque monsieur sandwiches to Snickers bars. The people behind the counter speak enough English to understand questions and are polite.
