Rabat Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Rabat Transportation

Getting around in a new city can be confusing. Here are the best methods of transportation in Rabat.

Train

The train is more spacious and cooler than taking the bus. Trains run every thirty minutes. There are two stations. The main station is called Rabat Ville, and the other is Rabat Agdal. The overhead racks in coach are too small to put suitcases, and leaving them in the aisles can cause issues with the food cart. You can avoid this problem and be more comfortable by choosing to travel first class.

Taxis

There are two types of taxis in Morocco. Petite taxis are small cars, and they aren’t allowed to go outside of the town limits. They have a special sign on the roof which usually looks like a small box, and they are blue. The other type is a Grande taxi. These are larger cars, and they can go anywhere you need to go.  You can negotiate a price for the trip before you leave, or you can have them use the meter.

Bus

The buses in Rabat aren’t in great condition, but they will get you where you need to go. You’ll find the main bus station just outside of town in Place Zerktouni. The numbers system can make catching a bus a bit confusing.

Car

You can also rent a car. You’ll need to be careful of one way streets and try to avoid peak driving times when the roads are congested. Finding a parking place can be difficult, but you can usually park on Hassan II Boulevard.

Walking

Depending on where you are staying, you may find the best way to get around in Rabat to be on foot the majority of the time.
