Nazaré Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Nazaré Shopping

Browse the street vendors, snack on snails, and get some homemade ice cream in Nazaré.

Street Vendors

All year round, in the main avenue facing the sea, you’ll find see several women in traditional costumes selling everything. If you want to buy anything for a good price, this market should be your last option, because they are there to take advantage of tourists. However, if you don’t mind paying a little bit more for the experience of bargaining with these experts and get a picture with them, then by all means have a good time with it. As long as they know you’re going to buy something, they will become the most charming and funniest people in the world.

Fresh Snacks

If you take the funicular up to the cliff above Nazaré you will find a small area near the cliffside and church with a number of local women selling local homemade food, from nuts to snails and seashells. Take a look and try some of them out. If they are fresh, they are delicious.

Nazaré Municipal Market

Nazaré has a large, covered Municipal Market that is well worth a visit, even if you’re not interested in buying anything. Fresh fish, vegetables, fruits, and other groceries as well as all sorts of non-food articles are available at the market stalls. The Nazaré Municipal Market is located in the center of the town, just opposite the main bus station.

Gelardia Conchanata

Conchanata opened its doors in 1981, and ever since then, Ms. Justina has been selling ice cream treats to Nazaré’s tourists. Ice Cream is available in 30 flavors, three of which are permanent – all others rotate daily, since only 18 out of the 30 flavors are available at one time.
