Montego Bay Things to Do – Attractions & Must See

Montego Bay Things to Do

While its possible to fritter all of your time away on the white sand beaches of Jamiaca with cool turquoise water lapping gently at your feet, there are other options. Seriously.

Dunn River Falls

There is a sublime place where the fresh rain water cascades down stone terraces that cut right through the dense Jamaican rainforest and empties out into the Carribean. Located between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, Dunn River Falls is an amazing fresh water spectacle that should not be missed. Climb up the cascading water from the beach below and explore stone terraces with pools of calm fresh water to wade in and relax while taking in the lush rainforest that envelops everything in sight. There are many tours available from Montego Bay, though the cheapest option is to take one of the shared mini buses that will drop you off right in front of the entrance. It takes about an hour and a half each way and costs about $4 US.

Doctor’s Cave Beach Club

This beach club is just what the doctor ordered…literally. Some doctor liked the place so much he bought it and then donated it back to the city of Montego Bay. With its well maintained beach and its perfectly still turquoise waters, Doctor’s Cave is the best non-resort beach in Montego Bay. Located directly on the “Hip Strip,” it’s right in the middle of all the action, and yet once inside, the beach club feels like your own private paradise. The entrance fee is $5 US and includes use of the locker rooms. There’s a decent restaurant on the beach as well – overpriced but gets the job done. So if you’re looking for a therapuetic beach day, look no further than the Doctor’s Cave Beach Club!

Rose Hall Great House

This is Jamaica’s most haunted house. Rose Hall was built by a wealthy Englishman in 1750. A tour tells the story of Annie Palmer, known as the White Witch, who supposedly practiced voodoo and had three husbands who all died under mysterious circumstances. Annie mistreated her slaves and sometimes had them as lovers, some of whom also died in mysterious or tragic circumstances. Annie Palmer was murdered in her bed in 1831.
