Manchester Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Manchester Shopping

No trip to the UK is complete without a visit to Manchester, one of England’s most highly populated areas. While you’re there, take a look at some of these terrific shopping areas.

Shopping at the Trafford Centre

Trafford Centre is a state-of-the-art mall a short ride from the city centre. It’s famous for having one of the largest food courts in Europe called “The Orient,” where you can purchase a variety of cakes, coffees and other fast foods. As well as shopping, The Trafford Centre is also home to an Odeon Cinema, LazerQuest and miniature golf. Best of all, parking is completely free.

Arndale Centre in Manchester

Arndale Centre is a very large shopping centre in the middle of Manchester. It was built in two phases: one in 1972, and the other in 1979. It is the largest covered town shopping mall in the EU with over 200 shops, stores, restaurants and fast food places. The centre comprises two floors of extensive shopping, plus a multi-story car park. It attracts hordes of shoppers in its vast indoor market, filled with a combination of kitsch and class.

Oddities and Rarities at Affleck’s Palace

More a huge warehouse than a traditional shopping centre, Affleck’s Palace is split over different floors with a variety of uncommon retail outlets wherever you look. There are stores selling vintage clothing, punk and monster styles, and slogan t-shirts. In addition, Affleck Palace also has tattoo parlours, body piercers and hair dressers. With little by way of fancy decor or expensive overheads, these predominantly young entrepreneurs usually offer great value for money.
