Hong Kong Nathan Road and Other Shopping

Shopping in Hong Kong: Nathan Road

Hong Kong is a shoppers paradise. It is never difficult to find a place to shop. There are so many shopping malls, street markets, and vendors that it is very easy to walk from one shopping district to another without even noticing. One such shopping district is Nathan Road.

Nathan Road itself is a nice place to wander and just soak up the sights. However, not many people leave here with as much money as they came with. The road is crammed with shops all hoping to take your money. It consists of 50 or so shops selling a variety of merchandise from both international and local brands. The boulevard offers a wide range of items including apparel, accessories, jewelry, sporting goods, shoes, cosmetics, luggage, and – most notably – electronics and gadgets.

Most of the shops here are geared toward cameras, phones, and all sorts of other doodads. Anything you could be looking for, you’ll probably find it here. However, be sure to do your homework first. This area is notorious for selling knockoffs – some more convincing than others. Just remember: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. And if you decide you do like something, do not be afraid to haggle. If you have an eye for it, you can also usually find great bargains on jewelry and trinkets. Just keep currency conversion and quality of the piece in mind when making these sorts of purchases.

All in all, Nathan Road has something for everyone – from the most scrupulous bargain hunter to someone just needing a new memory card for their camera.
