Downtown Seattle in Seattle and Other Warnings and Dangers

Warnings and Dangers in Seattle Downtown Seattle

The city of Seattle is beautiful and offers a lot of great sights and attractions, however there are warnings to heed. Understanding some of the dangers and knowing what to be on the lookout for will make it easier for you to travel to this area of Washington.

Learn About the City

Seattle as a whole does not have a high crime rate. There are going to be bad areas, just as within any city. However, it might be a pot drug deal or something else simple. It all comes down to minding your own business and walking to where you need to go without staring.

Getting Around Seattle

The signs on the highway are often confusing because of the distance between ramps. Particularly around the Seahawks Stadium during game days, the traffic is thick and confusing, so be on the lookout at all times.

Some of the parts of downtown are not the nicest, especially late at night and early morning. Be on the lookout for shady characters and don’t walk alone.

Warnings by Area

Pike Place Market is a great place to sightsee as it’s famous for where the fishermen toss the fish to each other. You have to be on the lookout for the fish flying overhead. It’s also not uncommon for the fishermen to be a little “handsy” with the people walking around.

Capitol Hill is one of the safer areas, though panhandlers often have an entitled attitude and will stand in front of people and yell until money is given. Ignore them and walk past them.

Belltown is the neighborhood that appears in the news with the most number of crimes. If at all possible, only visit here during the day.
