Delhi – What to Pack – Clothing and Supplies Tips

Delhi What To Pack

Delhi is rich with scenery and culture. Pack appropriate supplies and clothing but leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs!

Luggage

No matter what you have planned for your Delhi adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.

Clothing – Don’t Pack a Ton

It is advisable not to pack too many things, as it is impossible not to buy things in India. Many advise bringing a big empty suitcase to fill up with purchases. Pack clothes that are light but have long sleeves. Bring a sweater too because the evenings can be cold. Take a good pair of slippers and walking shoes. Socks are essential if you plan to visit temples or places of worship as you are not allowed to wear shoes inside. Bring a scarf or something to cover your head in case you visit a Sikh temple. It will also help protect from the sun!

Clothes to Pack

Medicines

Bring medicine for fever, aches, cough and cold but especially Immodium for what is known as “Delhi Belly” in India. It is advisable and essential to get the appropriate vaccinations and treatments before visiting India, especially for malaria. Bring and wear mosquito repellant. If you are staying in a cheap hotel, you might also want to bring a mosquito net.

Camera and Power Adapter

Carry a camera to capture all the exotic scenery. Bring all the memory cards you need, just in case. A pair of binoculars can help with looking closer at birds, wildlife and detailed carving on buildings. India uses a 220 volts/ 50Hz electric supply. Unless your electrical devices are dual voltage (110-220), you may need to get a voltage converter. These are easily available at most neighborhood electric goods shops.
