Busselton Things To Do – Attractions & Must See

Busselton Things to Do

Australia is an enormous country, but only a few select parts of it are inhabited. There are only a few cities on the west coast of the country and one of the most important in Busselton. This city is a major tourist attraction for Australians because of its coastal location. If you are planning a trip to Busselton, here are some tips on things to do while you are there.

Whaler’s Wife

Busselton is a whaling town, historically speaking. This is captured in the sculpture called “A Whaler’s Wife” located in the town square, also referred to as Sarah Beth. American sperm whale hunters came to the city when it was first discovered in order to set up landing places for blubber. Many of them brought their wives with them down to Australia. This statue depicts those women watching them as they sail away for work.

Check Out the Underwater Observatory

For a unique look at marine life, go to the Underwater Observatory. It is at the end of a jetty and is about 25 feet below the water’s surface. The area can hold about 40 people at a time and allows them to get a look at underwater life in a manner that they couldn’t anywhere else, even an aquarium.

Hit the Beach

One of the main reasons to go to a coastal town is to go to the beach. The beach is lined with trees and surrounded by grassy land, making it an ideal place to take the family for a picnic. The water is safe for swimming most of the time, there are some areas safer than others if you are worried and there is even some great fishing.
