Located in Northwestern Montana, Bozeman is an underrated travel destination with plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation just outside the city. Not limited to outdoor fun, there is plenty to do within the Bozeman city limits. The following recommendations are some of the top things to do when in Bozeman.

Outdoor Activities

Located just outside of Bozeman in Gallatin National Forest, is Palisade Falls, an 80 foot waterfall with a stunning backdrop. Hyalite Canyon is located close to Bozeman and provides a variety of day hikes for hikers of all skill levels. Bozeman Hot Springs is another popular outdoor destination in the Bozeman area. Campers enjoy the Hot Springs 6 days a week, as the campsite is closed on Friday nights in observation of the Sabbath.  The Bridger Bowl is one of the top ski areas in all of North America and is located just 16 miles outside of downtown Bozeman. During the summer months there are plenty of opportunities to go whitewater rafting in both the Yellowstone and Gallatin Rivers which are located close to Bozeman.

Fun within the City Limits

If nature is not one’s thing they are plenty of other things to do in and around Bozeman. Located on the campus of Montana State University, the Museum of the Rockies features a variety of exhibits and give patrons a glimpse of what life was like in early Montana. Located close by the Montana State University Campus is Main Street, the primary drag in all of Bozeman. Main Street features a variety of mom and pop bars and cafes. Montana State University is a solid tourist attraction in it’s own right and features historic buildings such as Montana Hall, and one of the top college party scenes in the United States. The Emerson Center for Culture and Arts is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the epicenter for Bozeman’s growing art scene. Finally, the Children’s Museum of Bozeman offers youngsters a variety of hands-on activities to help them learn and experience science.
