Szczecin is a major seaport on the coast of Poland and one of the country’s biggest cities. The city is very old, existing since the 8th century. The seaside and multiple cultural events attract many visitors to the city each year. If you are interested in the visiting Szczecin, here are some tips on transportation in the area.

You Can Fly In 

The city does have its own airport. It is located about 40 km away from downtown. Both national and international flights come and go from the airport. If you fly to the city, you are most likely to connect in Warsaw via a Star Alliance flight. The flights go direct to Warsaw 4 times each day. Flights also go to London and Dublin four times a week and Edinburgh twice a week.

Get to the City by Sea 

There are a couple of different ways to get to Szczecin by sea as well. Many travel via their own private yachts. If you don’t have access to one of those, you can take a cruise into the city as your destination or on a day trip.

Pay to Park 

You are going to have to pay to park in the city center. The zone for paid parking stretches over most of the downtown area. Drivers have to pay from Monday through Friday from 10-5. Other than that, it is free to park in the city. It is much more crowded during the week, so consider taking public transportation during business hours when you are in the city. If you do need to purchase a parking ticket, you can buy them from attendants that are walking around the area.
