Rabat Nightlife – Clubs, Bars & Nightlife Tips

Rabat Nightlife

Moroccans typically do not drink alcohol, so almost all the nightlife in Rabat where alcohol is served caters to tourists. Local Moroccans hang out in the many street cafes and drink coffee or non-alcoholic drinks while chatting with friends.

Bars

There are quiet, simple bars in all of the major tourist hotels. One of the few local bars in Rabat that tourists like is Chantilly that is only open until 10:30 p.m. It is on Patrice Lumumba Avenue. Drinks are inexpensive and beers cost 15 Dirhams each (about US$1.50).

Nightclubs

There are a few really good nightclubs frequented by Moroccans and tourists alike. The Moroccans like to dance and it does not matter if they are drinking alcohol or not.

Amnesia

One of the most famous and popular nightclubs in Rabat is Amnesia. It is open from 11:30 P.M. to 4 A.M. The crowd starts to arrive and to eventually fill up the place around 1:00 A.M. Amnesia first opened in 1989 and has been the most popular club in Rabat ever since.

Amnesia has lots of dance space and the DJ’s play a variety of club songs and local mixes. There are usually mostly Moroccans mixed with a few foreigners; however, foreigners are perfectly welcome there. There is a reasonable cover charge for men and pretty young women get in free.

Pickup Spots

Café Nuit is a well-known pickup spot for those looking for some nightly company that is open until 3 A.M. This place serves coffee, tea, and soft drinks (no alcohol). This is the place to go if you are looking for female prostitutes or male rent boys who congregate in this café while looking for customers.
