Estoril Things to Do
Estoril is not unlike other cities of Portugal that offer plenty for travelers to see and do. From majestic beaches to exciting casinos, Estoril’s attractions are plentiful.
Parque do Estoril
Situated above the beach, this park is a nice place to relax and spend time hiding from the bright sun. There are fountains, flowers, and statues in addition to a casino at the northern end.
Casino De Estoril
This casino is the biggest in Europe, especially with its bars and restaurants inside. It is also the oldest casino in Portugal. This multi-entertainment center offers a wide variety of games in addition to daily cabaret and music hall shows. The casino is a regular venue for temporary exhibitions, modern art, and sculptures. It overlooks Tamariz Beach. It is also said that Ian Fleming was inspired to write the James Bond books while visiting.
Coastal Path and Promenade
Instead of riding the train to Cascais, many people enjoy the relaxing 20-minute walk along the promenade. On one side, you will find quite a few bars and restaurants in addition to access to rail stations at Estoril and Monte Estoril. The other side of the promenade overlooks Tamariz Beach, which is ideal for swimming.
Cabo da Roca
Cabo da Roca is a great place to take a daytrip. It is the most westerly point of mainland Europe, and it is the site where many historical explorations began.
Chalet Barros is a symbol of Estoril’s wealth, and it was built in the 19th century on the ruins of Fort Cruz. Chalet Barros is an ostentatious palace that stands out clearly on the beachfront of Estoril.
