Liverpool Things To Do – Attractions & Must See

Liverpool Things To Do

There are so many monuments and art projects to the Beatles as a group and as individuals, you can encounter things which have a totally different name but actually commemorate one of the Fab Four. Here are some other things to do in Liverpool.

Albert Dock

The Albert Dock is a complex of dock buildings and warehouses. It opened in 1846 and was the first structure in Britain to be buit entirely of iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. Today, the Albert Dock is one of Liverpools top tourist attractions, attracting over 4 million people each year. Among the many attractions are the Liverpool Tate art gallery, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the “Beatles Story.” There are also several small shops and many bars, cafes and restaurants.

Metroscopes

If you enjoy public art projects you really should see the Metroscopes by Clive Gillman. The metroscopes are five large circular digital displays that constantly change. Each one represents Liverpool and one of its twin cities (Odessa, Dublin, Shanghai and Koln).

Walker Art Gallery

Located on William Brown Street, the Walker Art gallery is said to host one of the best collections of art and sculptures in Britain. As with most of the museums and art galleries in Liverpool, admission is free, and you won’t have to look far for more museums and galleries.

Mersey Ferry

Wether you decide to take a River Explorer Cruise or just a direct service, the Mersey Ferry is a must do thing if you’re in Liverpool, Wallasy or Birkenhead. Earlier in the day there are longer journeys for tourists which visit the same terminals but takes longer with a 30 minute journey from Birkenhead back to the Pier head. There is also a comentary telling you about Liverpool and about the river.
