Johor Bahru Nightlife Tips

The best place to start your trip is Danga Bay. This theme park turns into a great place to enjoy the nightlife with food, drinks, and lights. The park is fully lighted at night and usually open until 2:00 a.m. If a day trip is too hot in this warm weather city, then visiting Danga Bay at night is ideal. It’s a great place to gather with friends for a drink or dinner. The prices might be expensive, but it’s worth the experience.

Another place you should visit at night is the “Pasar Malam” night market. You are probably used to merchants bringing their products to the market during daytime. But, the night market in Johor Bahru is lively with vendors selling vegetables, meat, fruits, and different types of cooked food. You can also buy drinks, household utensils, and clothes. The peak hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., so be aware of crowded areas with working class people, housewives, children, and tourists mixed together.

Johor Bahru Clubs & Bars

Johor Bahru has plenty of clubs and bars for people of all ages to enjoy. Two of the best musical establishments are Lonestar and the T.A.M. Disc Laser Karaoke Lounge. Lonestar features hard rock music and bands from all over Asia. You can also find karaoke upstairs, but the main draw is rock and roll music. Meanwhile, T.A.M. offers sing-along entertainment upstairs and downstairs. Included are private rooms where you can rent the space for singing, drinking, and eating.

If you want to step away from music, you can visit the Lost Malaya Gallery. This old colonial bungalow along the sea was converted into an art gallery and lounge. There is a small lounge on the first floor that serves drinks and light snacks. There is also a pool table to test your skills. Overall, this is a great place for friends to hang out without the loud banging music that is typical for night spots in Johor Bahru.

Another popular club is at the Zon Regency Hotel. This spot provides another laid back atmosphere to relax and unwind after a long day. The spot is geared toward a mature, professional crowd to differentiate from the party-goers who visit karaoke bars. They also feature a great live band on occasion.

Overall, you can find plenty of things to do at night in Johor Bahru, especially if you are into shopping and karaoke.
