Bergen Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Bergen Shopping

Bergen is located on the southwestern coast of Norway. The city is surrounded with beautiful landscapes, including deep fjords and mountains. This port town has many great opportunities for shopping which we have outlined below.

Julehuset

This small wooden shop is a must see store to visit while in town. Located right in Bergen’s historical center, the Julehuset is just a short walk from the fish market. This store is an excellent place to purchase Christmas gifts year round.

Sweaterman

Located within the fish market at Bergen, the Sweaterman sells beautiful sweaters at a fair price. Made locally in Bergen, these sweaters are very high quality. Shoppers can expect to pay about $135 US for a quality sweater. Prices are more expensive for new designs or for handmade sweaters. There are many different colors and styles to choose from including quarter zip sweaters with warm fleece lining.

The Fish Market

Famous for its freshly caught fish, the Bergen fish market is a main attraction in the city. Located near the port to the sea, visitors can expect to find any type of seafood and fish available for purchase. There are other vendors beside seafood vendors within the market selling goods, so be sure to take a walk around the entire market.

Galleriet

This is a large indoor space on the Torgalmenning with several different shops inside, making it an ideal place to shop on a cold or rainy day. There are stores that sell medicine, clothing, souvenirs, toys, books, and just about anything else you could imagine. Plus, there is a small zoo inside the shopping center with birds for children to see. There are two restaurants located within the Galleriet. One is on the second floor, and another on the fifth.
