Isla Cozumel Things to Do – Attractions & Must See

Isla Cozumel Things to Do

Isla Cozumel is located in the Caribbean Sea just off of the coast of Mexico and is known as a tourist mecca for people around the world. Here are some of the attractions you must see and do while visiting this tropical island.

Parks & Reserves

You can take day trips to the Faro Ceralain Eco Park and the Chankanaab National Park. The eco park is home to turtle- and bird-nesting areas, a crocodile farm, and white beaches where you can rest on hammocks.

The Chankanaab National Park is a place where you can see replicas of original Mayan sculptures. The park includes a small beach, zoo, dolphin interaction center, museum, and underwater caves.

Snorkeling & Scuba Diving

Snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities are everywhere. The Chankanaab park has a place that is good to snorkel for families with small children, but for the more advanced snorkelers and scuba divers, you can take a catamaran out into the sea to swim with sea turtles and other wildlife.

Maya Ruins

The El Caracol in Punta Sur (inside the Faro Ceralain Eco Park) are old stones stacked together to look like a snail that was built in 600 B.C. There is also San Gervasio that was built for the goddess of fertility that is located near San Miguel. The oldest site is El Cedral, a couple of miles off of the main highway in Cozumel.

Submarine Tours

If you don’t like to snorkel or scuba dive, you can still go underwater in a submarine. The submarine will take you down about 100 feet underwater so you can see the reef and the all the ocean life living around it.
