Cape Town Nightlife – Clubs, Bars, and Nightlife Tips

Cape Town Nightlife

Cape Town has plenty of options when it comes to bars and clubs. From Irish pubs to trendy clubs, Cape Town has something for everyone.

Clubs

The trendy Dockside draws mostly a younger crowd. Situated in Grand West casino, Jackson Hall features live entertainment, great food, and exotic cocktails. Gandalf has three venues that cater to METAL, Goth, and the Alternative music genres. Popular with students, Roots has an outdoor beach area and local DJs play every Wednesday. For a Jamaican theme, check out the beach-themed courtyard at Cool Runnings. Every Monday the River Club offers a free concert. Acts vary from solo guitar, rock bands, jazz, reggae, and classical. One of the most popular establishments along the famous Camps Bay beachfront, Cafe Caprice, attracts sophisticated young professionals, glamorous models, and even a few celebrities. Funk, soul, and disco are what you’ll hear at 169 Long. Each person gets a drum and a brief lesson, before joining a drum circle at The Drum Café. For a jet-set vibe, try Ignite, in Camps Bay.

Pubs

Perseverance Tavern, the oldest pub in Cape Town, dates back to 1808. It’s a true pub where you would go for a beer and some fish and chips. Live bands play to the football crowd most nights of the week at Kennedy’s. For great atmosphere and a friendly crowd, try Mitchell’s Waterfront Brewery. Mostly students frequent Stones, with its pool tables and happy hour every Wednesday.
