With beautiful beaches and a festive atmosphere, this city on the coast of South Portugal is the perfect warm destination for getting that summer tan. It also has a fun nightlife scene, and these are some of our top tips for tourists who like their vacation to last all night.
Enjoy an All-night Party on The Strip
Spend the night dancing and drinking in Albufeira’s nightlife center, The Strip. Perfect for groups, young adults, and the young at heart, the bars here don’t really heat up until after 8 p.m. and mostly stay open until 4 a.m. for a long, festive night on the town.
A few kilometers South of Old City Center, Albufeira’s strip is located on Avendina Dr. near most of the resorts and hotel rooms. The nightlife has a wide range, from nightclubs with dancing to karaoke to sports bars. The party also takes place on the surrounding streets, so it’s easy to move back and forth between the different bars depending on your mood. Moving between the different bars is also a great way to enjoy a night out if you’re on a budget and trying not to spend a ton of money at any one place.
Visit Matt’s Bar
There’s lots of great nightlife on The Strip, but Matt’s Bar in particular is a favorite among visitors. Vacationers love the DJs, reasonably priced drinks, and their methanical bucking bronco bull just outside the bar. Matt’s Bar hosts parties and stag nights on a regular basis, even during the quieter times of year in Albufeira.
Every Saturday night, Matt’s Bar hosts a popular boat party out on the water from 6-9 p.m. The party features a licensed bar, DJs blasting music on a mega sound system, and opportunities to swim and paddle board. After getting back to land, boat guests are welcome to join the after party and get a free drink at Matt’s Bar.
Try Old Town For Lower-key Nighttime Fun
For a slightly older and more diverse, relaxed crowd, or an environment suited for younger families, consider the Old Town nightlife as an alternative to The Strip. Visitors describe the nightlife as quieter and more sophisticated than The Strip, but still being lively in character. Street performers and entertainment play until the early hours of the morning on the cobblestone streets. A train runs around town into the wee hours, making it easy to go between multiple restaurants and bars.
Picadillly Cocktail Bar is a favorite bar of many tourists in Old Town. Staff hand out free shots regularly, and drink prices are very inexpensive. With friendly staff and a fun atmosphere, this is a great relaxed spot to watch the game and kick back with your friends in Albufeira.
