Venice – What To Pack – Clothing and Supplies Tips

Venice What to Pack

The city is of Venice is on many people’s bucket list. If you’re finally headed for the first time or for the tenth, you’ll want to know what to pack.

Luggage

No matter what you have planned for your Venetian adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.

Protect Yourself From the Rain

Your electronics aren’t the only thing you need to protect. You also need to protect your feet and your clothing. Flooding presents a problem all year round and can happen at any moment. You might be staying in a cafe when you see a sudden downpour. Bring boots and rubbers for your shoes so you don’t get your feet wet as you head to your hotel or the boat. You also need a pair of very comfortable walking shoes. While you may take a local boat known as a vaporetto now and then down the Grand Canal or a romantic gondola ride, you will spend lots of time walking through squares and up and down city bridges. Make sure you have footwear that can stand up to the challenge. Keep in mind that you are walking everywhere, so you don’t want to lug huge luggage with you. Pack as lightly as you can and look for pieces with wheels that can be pulled over the city’s many bridges. Also bring modest clothing if you are touring a local church.

When heading here, bear in mind that that you can’t bring a car into the city so you will be doing a lot of walking. You may be walking several hours a day every day you are here. Also keep in mind that the city of Venice is falling into to the sea so it can get muddy at times when it floods. Water gets into places such as the famous squares and the churches. You need to protect your feet while you’re taking those wonderful shots of this beautiful city.

Venice is full of lovely vistas. From the early morning rays over the canals to the glories of the local cathedrals and bridges to the colorful sunsets, you will want to take as many pictures as you can everywhere you head. Bring a backup charger for your iPhone for all the pictures you will want to take, consider bringing a durable case as well to protect it from the rain. And, don’t forget a adaptor!

Maps are a Must

Venice is a city of tiny island and blind alleyways. While getting lost can be fun especially at night when the residents come outside to greet the night, many times you just want to know where you’re going. You need a great map on hand at all times. Make sure it’s waterproof so you can bring it out even when it rains. Guidebooks are also useful as many historic sites may not have signs in English.
