Tijuana Nightlife

Tijuana Nightlife – Clubs, Bars & Nightlife Tips

Tijuana Nightlife

Tijuana has many hot nightclubs, bars, and huge dance clubs that are open all night. The drinking age in Mexico is 18-years old and the exchange rate for the dollar makes everything cheap, so Tijuana attracts many American college students, especially during college holidays, such as spring break.

Club Districts

Avenida Revolucioń

Avenida Revolucioń is the main street in Tijuana. It has many shops, street vendors, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Some of the smaller bars and clubs are very seedy with prostitutes and drug use. Others are larger and more upscale like Baby Rock, Señor Frogs, and Molcajetes in the Zona Rio area. Dress nicely to go to the bigger clubs like “ClubAnimalE!”, which is close to the U.S./Mexican border.

For many of the smaller clubs there is no cover charge, so you can wander in and out of them freely until you find one or more you really like.

Some of the well-established places, like Tilly’s Fifth Avenue, run as a restaurant during the day and a nightclub at night.

During major holidays the street is closed to auto traffic, so it becomes quite festive as the club-goers move from one nightclub to another. Beer and liquor are typically very cheap.

Plaza del Zapato

There are about twenty nightclubs in this area and there are plenty of people enjoying themselves on a regular weekend, and on holiday weekends the bars are packed. In this area, there are smaller cantinas like Monte Picacho where you can watch boxing matches on TV, while enjoying food and drinks. Other favorite bars are “Ah, Hijo”, “El Sotano Suizo”, “Mi Barra”, and “Cinque.”

There are many styles to choose from and you can wander feely from one bar to another. This area has more locals than you will find on Avenida Revolucioń, which caters more to the tourists. The dress code is stylish casual and less restrictive than some of the bigger nightclubs require.
