Salvador da Bahia Nightlife – Clubs, Bars & Nightlife Tips

Nightlife in Salvador da Bahia

Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, comes alive with music when the sun goes down, and you can party nearly until dawn at many of the local clubs and bars.

Pelorinho Streets

Pelourinho by night is lively and magical. With many live concerts, people dancing everywhere and various bands strolling the narrow streets–this is Brazil’s party heart. Tuesday and Friday are big nights in the Pelorinho. There are many clubs that have live music, and the famous Brazilian band Olodum, who inspired Paul Simon to make the album “Rhythm of the Saints,” often plays in the old city center of Salvador.

Sankofa African Bar is located in the middle of Pelourinho and is a great spot for live music – especially salsa, semba, samba and reggae. DJ Sankofa and DJ Vasco spin out international beats inspired by African and Carribean vibes. The bar is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a historic building with lovely brick walls, and the fantastic mix of locals and tourists coupled with great live music make this place memorable.

French Quarter

If you like good jazz accompanied by a nice ocean view and don’t mind paying a bit more for a fun night out, the French Quarter is your place. It gets very crowded from Thursday to Sunday, so get there before 9 p.m. The French Quarter is the best option in Salvador da Bahia for live blues and jazz.

Itapoan

Itapoan offers two hotspots: One is a square full of people drinking and the other is by the Lagoa de Abate, just a few minutes walking distance from the most famous acaraje, or fried dough, in Salvador at Cira’s. Itapoan really gets hopping Friday through Sunday, from 8 p.m. until the wee hours.
