Discover the Past

Explore the history of the area at the Cambria Historical Museum run by the Cambria Historical Society. The building in located in the complete restoration of the old Guthrie-Bianchini House. The museum is open to the public from noon until 3:00 p.m., Friday to Monday.

You can wander through the old cemetery at the end of Bridge Street. Some of the graves go back to the late 19th century. The cemetery combines history, nature, and provides a peaceful feeling to visitors.

Just six miles to the north in San Simeon, is Hearst Castle. The building is the former residence of William Randolph Hearst, the legendary publisher. There are a number of tours which visitors can join at the mansion. Due to the popularity, it is recommended to book tours before arriving.

Head to the Beach

Along the outskirts of the town visitors can access the local beaches. These secluded beaches are worth the effort to find, as they are far from the tourist trail. They are peaceful places to have a picnic, relax, read a book or just watch one of the stunning, and free, sunsets.

Leffingwell Landing is a rocky coastline just north of Moonstone Beach. It is a wonderful area to explore which offers unique rock formations, tidal pools, and plenty of sea creatures, including sea otters.

Visitors who are in the area in at the end of January until the middle of February can’t miss going to the elephant seal birthing grounds, just north of Cambria. During the birth season, elephant seals line the beach for almost half a mile. Anyone who visits the area should remember not to disturb the animals.

Take a Walk Downtown

Downtown Cambria is walkable and definitely has an artistic feel. There are plenty of galleries and small shops for people to discover.  Visitors can dine in the number of unique restaurants or relax in a coffee shop.

A popular shop for wine lover in Cambria is Fermentations. The wine shop not offers wine for sale, but provides inexpensive tastings for customers to discover a new favorite.
