Florence Prada Outlet and Other Shopping

There are many beautiful sights to see in Florence, but according to insider tips, the Prada Outlet is a must. Even if not shopping for a new bag or a pair of shoes, the experience is worthwhile.

Visiting the Prada Outlet

With the addition of the new Prada outlet in Art Barabarino, there are now two factory stores in the area. The best way to get there, since the store is not in the city center, is by taxi or by renting a car. There is a train from the Santa Maria Novella Station to Montevarchi, which takes one hour. From there a taxi ride takes about 20 minutes. The store hours are 9:30 am until 7 pm on Mondays through Saturdays. It is also open from 2 pm until 7 pm on Sundays. Prada management only allows 100 customers at a time to enter, so the wait can be either a few minutes or a few hours. The early hours are the best but avoid weekends as they are very crowded.

What to Buy at the Prada Outlet

The store sells a little bit of everything. They have a selection of shoes for men and women, clothes for both sexes, handbags, luggage and accessories. It is not possible to know beforehand what will be in the store on any given day, but after carefully checking price tags, it’s possible to find good discounts. Unfortunately, as the store has become known to more people, the prices have gone up. Nevertheless, prices tend to be about half of the Italian store prices.

Not Only Prada in the Outlet

The store sells other brands as well as Prada. When shoppers become tired, there is a nice café inside of the outlet. It’s a perfect place to recoup or to wait for a taxi back to Florence.

Tax Rebates

Tourists from non-EU countries can ask for a tax-free form with purchases. At the airport, they can get a refund of about 16% of the price of purchases. The total must come to 150 Euros, so if shopping with a friend, it’s a good idea to combine purchases to get the tax back at the airport.
