Catania Nightlife

Catania is a coastal city in Sicily, Italy featuring lively clubs and bars. The vibrant nightlife offers a lot of things for tourists to enjoy.

Catania’s Club Scene

One of the coolest clubs in Catania is the Avantgarde Art Club. This is geared towards musicians, artists, and people who love music and art. It’s a private club, but you will be welcomed by the friendly patrons. You might even be handed a drum to join in the musical performances. There are regular “jam sessions” led by local musicians. Other nights, there are art showings.

You can also visit the Banacher disco. The signature attraction of this club are the tall palm trees that enclose a large dance floor. Loads of people dance until the early morning here. To find the club, travel along the promenade from Aci Trezza to Catania. You should ask for directions, though, because there are no other establishments in the vicinity.

Catania’s Bars

One of the top bars to visit in Catania is Stag’s Head. This Irish-style pub is a regular hangout for foreigners in Catania. Unlike the rest of the small, crowded pubs around the piazza, Stag’s Head has room to sit and enjoy lively music. This spot is easily accessible from the main strip Via Etnea.

If you want to try some of the more crowded bars in Catania, you can walk around Teatro Massimo. There you will see at least four to five pubs directly facing the square, plus you will find a few others if you dare wander into the nearby alleys. The places are crowded, but there are tables outside to enjoy conversation and the fresh nighttime air.

How to Enjoy Catania Nightlife

To get the most out of Catania’s nightlife, you should assess what kind of tourist you are. Do you enjoy a relatively peaceful night out browsing the area and finding a laid-back place to settle into? Or, do you want to be in the middle of a loud, happening scene with lots of people backed into small spaces? This tip will help you determine which clubs and bars to visit while in Catania.
