Things To Do in Province of La Union

Province of La Union Things To Do

Located in the Philippines, La Union is a province originally colonized in the late 16th century. Today it is a resort town with beautiful beaches, landmarks, and many things to do.

The Leaning Tower

One historical curiosity on Luna Beach is the Leaning Tower, also known as the Old Spanish Watchtower, though it’s not as large as the one in Pisa, Italy. It was originally built as a lookout tower for impending pirate attacks, but now is in ruins and the structure is completely split in two.

Surfing

The most popular water activity in La Union is surfing. There are a few beaches in the area appropriate for surfing and they are pretty close to each other, located no more than twenty minutes apart. Rental surfboards are available.

Museum De Lloko

Across from the Basillica de Agoo is a great museum that houses different artifacts and curiosities found in the area. The museum is open each week Monday through Friday.

Visit the Local Churches

The Philippines has some of the most beautiful churches in the world that were built during the Spanish settlement there. Some popular churches to visit while in the Province of La Union are St. Catherine of Alexandria, San Nicolas, St. William, Holy Guardian Angels Parish, and the Basilica of Our Lady of Charity.

The Pindangan Ruins

The Pindangan ruins are what is left of an old church that signified the joining of two villages in the area in the late 1700s. The church was then destroyed during an earthquake in 1892.
