When people reference Arizona the general response goes to Phoenix. However, Jerome is a beautiful small city with plenty to do when you visit whether it is for a weekend or an entire week.

Mine Museum

Jerome is filled with history that many may be unbeknownst to unless they are locals. In 1898, the old Fashion Salon Building was built, and now it is home to the Mine Museum. This venue is located at 200 Main Street, which is pretty close to Arizona Highway 89A. There is a very small entrance fee of $2.

Within this museum is countless information about the city. You will be able to see a variety of photos and item displays depicting the history within Jerome’s past. For example, you will be able to see how Jerome looked during World War II and of course its mining history.

Laura Williams Park

One common fact that you will notice about the city of Jerome is how caring they are to each and every citizen. It is amazing to experience a community that is close knit and accepting of each other. Laura Williams was an integral member of the city as she was one of the founders that created the Jerome Historical Society. During her period of being a long time resident, Williams was highly respected and well loved and there is an outdoor park dedicated to her.

It is a common thing that if you want to know a city, you have to get an understanding of the locals. In Jerome, there are a variety of local venues where you as a tourist can meet new people. Feel free to make yourself comfortable at the local businesses such as Paul and Jerry’s Saloon, The Haunted Hamburger, and of course the Mine Museum.

The residents of Jerome are extremely nice, polite, and welcoming to visitors. You will have no problem fitting in during your stay. Ask questions, inquire what the locals enjoy doing on a daily basis, and most importantly make new friends. Once you fall in love with Jerome, you will definitely want to make another trip.
