Tips on Kuta Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Kuta Warnings and Dangers

Kuta is a beautiful vacation spot, but there are still some warnings and dangers to be aware of while traveling to Kuta. Following these tips to stay safe.

Be Legal to Keep Safe

Undercover police often pose as street vendors who may offer you marijuana or other illegal drugs. Even if the person offering you drugs in Kuta is not a police officer, there is a good chance you are the target of some sort of scam.

Money Exchange Scams

While you may get a better exchange rate by using an unlicensed moneychanger in one of the shops on Legian or Seminyak Street, many tourists are scammed by receiving less money than promised. Stick to the official money exchange offices or keep a close eye on your money at all times, and be sure to recount your money in front of the moneychanger.

Protect Your Belongings

Violent crimes against tourists are rare, but watch out for pickpockets. Try to keep your hotel room door locked at all times, and lock your bags to prevent hotel staff or air employees from going through them.

The beaches in Kuta are usually very crowded. Never leave your valuables on the beach when you are taking a quick dip even if you can see them at all times.

Keep Your Eyes and Ears Open

Be aware of your surrounding, especially when you are walking along the street. Uneven pavement, erratic drivers and large crowds of rowdy tourists can create dangerous situations.

Pay attention to public announcements and posted signs, or flags, especially at the beach. Kuta is known for large waves and dangerous water conditions.

Terrorist Attacks in Kuta

There have been two terrorist attacks in Kuta. Be extra careful in large groups, especially when visiting Western nightclubs or bars.
