Things To Do in Calamba, Philippines

Calamba Things to Do

Calamba is the most heavily populated city in Laguna, Philippines. With a large population and a number of tourist attractions, there are many things to do when visiting the area.

The History of Jose Rizal

A trip to Calamba is never complete without visiting the home of the town’s national hero, Jose Rizal. In 1952, the Philippine government renovated the site where Rizal supposedly was born and grew up. This house served as a home to Rizal from the time he was a child, and its beauty has been preserved until today. It is a two-story structure that sits on a large lawn that is dotted by centuries-old trees. Within the house, you will find many historical artifacts on display. This place is a must-visit for anyone interested in educating themselves about the history of the province. The museum is open every day but Monday.

Giant Clay Pot

There is a giant clay pot in the city that is considered the largest clay pot in the world. Its official name is Banga, and it is the only work of art of this size and nature in the city. A road runs alongside this pot, which itself sits only a short distance from the house of Jose Rizal. Tourists in the area are free to walk up the stairs and take pictures of themselves standing in front of Banga.

Resorts

There are a number of resorts in the area that are positioned on or near hot springs. These hot springs are a popular draw for tourists visiting the area, and can be found lined up along the National Road, most specifically in the Barangay Pansol. Visitors to the city will notice resort employees standing on the streets with wooden boards, which themselves are painted with the names of the resorts. This makes it easy for tourists to find a place to stay at. If you’re looking for one of these hot spring resorts, the tricycle drivers that can take you around the area will also be a big help.
