Incheon Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Incheon Transportation

Incheon’s central location makes it a popular place to start your trip, whether you’re stay in the city or traveling to Seoul. If you’re looking for taxi, train, bus and airport transportation in Incheon, keep these tips in mind from past travelers.

From the Incheon Airport

The airport is on an island, and it’s located about an hour to the west of Seoul. If you’re going straight from the airport to select golf courses and casinos, you should be able to find a free shuttle. You can take either the bus, taxi or the subway system to Seoul, but allow for about an hour regardless of which path you choose. The majority of people recommend the subway, but there are also cabs. Taxis are plentiful at this airport, but they are expensive. If you have people to split the fare with, this will certainly be more convenient than having to wait for your train, or waiting as the train makes stops between the airport and your destination. When it comes to communicating your final stop to the driver, they will likely know the major names in the city, but if you’re going to a lesser-known hotel, you may want to have the location marked on a map or a note in Korean so the driver understands exactly where to go.

Public Transportation in Incheon

The subway line is called AREX, and it’s built to run from Seoul’s main station directly to the airport. The fare’s are extremely reasonable and the subway system is fast and efficient. You can take one that goes non-stop between Seoul and the airport, or you can take a local that will stop several places in between if need be. For example, the stop of Unseo is close to many major hotels, so you can walk from the train straight to your room. If you have questions when you’re at the subway station, you can find a tourist information booth, which is marked with a large, brown “i”. The people here are happy to help you figure out where you need to go, providing maps, directions and more. They can help you with both the bus and subway schedules, and you can always take a cab if traveling after midnight or you’ve purchased too many souvenirs.
