Tips on Stockholm Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Stockholm Warnings and Dangers

Stockholm, Sweden, is a fascinating destination, but safety is always a concern. There are a few unsavory situations that you should be aware of and try to avoid.

Be Wary of Thieves

Many of the thieves and pickpockets in Stockholm are highly organized and very skilled. Watch out in particular for scammers who want you to play a game of chance; these scammers on the street want you to bet on one of their games. They rig it by installing their friends who will win one or more sessions. This allows you to drop your guard and believe that you have a chance to win. You will gamble and lose each time.

Taxi Driver Scams

Although it can be safe to travel by taxi throughout Stockholm, some drivers in Stockholm will take advantage by swiping your credit card and handing you back a similar card that is not yours.

Another danger involves black taxis without a company logo. They are self-employed taxi drivers and tend to charge double the amount for the ride. Women should be particularly careful with these drivers. If you are coming from a nightclub and have had a few extra drinks, unlicensed taxi drivers may get a little friendlier than they should. Stay with a group of friends if you are going to take a black taxi.
