Minneapolis Things To Do – Attractions & Must See

Minneapolis Things To Do

Minneapolis is Minnesota’s biggest city and its cultural center. The city sits on the Mississippi River and experiences cold Minnesota winters and beautiful mild summers. It is the home of some of the biggest musical acts in pop music, including Prince. Whether you are visiting for business or for fun, Minneapolis has a lot of great things to do.

The Biggest Mall in America

Minneapolis is the home of the biggest shopping mall in the United States, befittingly called the Mall of America. The mall is massive and contains many different entertainment options besides the over 500 retail stores in the four-story mall. The mall even has an amusement park in the middle filled with rides and games and kids will love visiting the Nickelodeon and Lego stores for their interactive content.

Minneapolis Institute of Arts

The Minneapolis Institute of Art is filled with some of the best modern art in the Midwest. Admission to the museum is free, but there are extra things offered on Sundays for kids and families to experience. You should be aware that photography is not allowed in the museum. Target has funded the newest wing to be added to the building the “Target Wing” that includes paintings by Rembrandt and other iconic artists.

A Long-Standing Farmer’s Market Tradition

Minneapolis has a farmer’s market that has been around for a long time. The market was first started in the 1800s and has been in the location where it’s held today since 1937. Many locals make it a weekly tradition to visit the farmers market. It is open every day in the summer, but there is much more offered during the weekends when all of the vendors are on the premises.

The Art Fair

The Uptown Art Fair is another long-standing tradition in the Minneapolis community. It has been in existence since 1964. The massive art fair has almost 500 exhibits each year encompassing just about every medium you can think. It is used as a fundraiser for different projects in the Uptown area of Minneapolis. If you want to visit specifically for this event, it is usually held during the first weekend in August and admission is free. The event is very popular and average attendance could be 300,000 over the course of the weekend.
