Things to Do in Newquay, United Kingdom

Newquay Things to Do

Newquay is a small seaside town in the southwest of the United Kingdom. It offers an escape from the hustle of city life, allowing visitors the chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Visit Newquay Harbour

The Newquay Harbour is home to a variety of small fishing boats, as well as pleasure crafts. Some of the fishing boats are commercial, but you can also charter some of them for the day to go out on a fishing tour. Many of the pleasure crafts are also available for charter if you prefer a more relaxing day of sailing. The area also hosts a colony of seals, so be sure to check out their lively antics throughout the day.

Relax at the Beach

Newquay has two primary beaches for visitors to choose from: Fistral Beach and Towan Beach. Fistral Beach is situated just below the local golf course, offering spectacular views. The beach also gets some great waves, making it a hangout for local and visiting surfers. At Town Beach, most of the swell is blocked by the harbor entrance, so this is a great beach to take small children to. Both beaches can get quite busy during the summer, so be sure to get there early to secure your spot on the sand.

Enjoy Some Family Fun

If you’ve got small children (or children at heart!) with you, you’ll love spending the day at the Holywell Bay Fun Park. It features numerous rides and attractions for the whole family to enjoy, including go-karts, a trampoline bounce zone and an arcade, to name just a few. Two restaurants and an ice cream parlor provide ample dining and refreshment options to keep you energized throughout the day. There’s even a bar to entertain older visitors!

Stop and Smell the Flowers

If you’re looking for something a bit more relaxed and serene, the West Pentire Wildflower Fields are the destination for you. The National Trust, which cares for the fields, has recorded over 150 different species of wildflowers in the area. The fields are stunningly beautiful at just about any time of the year, but June and July offer your best chance to see as many flowers as possible in bloom at once.
