Varna Things To Do – Attractions & Must See

Varna Things to Do

Varna, a beautiful coastal city in Bulgaria, has plenty to see and do. Here are a few of the top recommendations when exploring the city.

Roman Thermae

The Roman Empire, once nearly all of modern-day Europe. While the Roman Empire spread itself too thin, it did also spread its understanding and technology throughout its footprint, including in Varna. The city’s Roman Theramae is the largest remaining Roman ruin in Bulgaria. It combines several different building styles, using both cement and brick. The area has Roman baths, waterways and an entire thermal complex where Roman citizens could relax. If you enjoy learning about history, visiting the Roman Thermae is a must.

Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin

This is by far one of the most famous buildings in all of Varna, as Bulgaria is largely Christian. The Cathedral showcases many traditional Christian architectural styles, and features a handful of regional construction methods as well. The golden domes used throughout the church help it stand out amongst other religious constructions.

Sea Garden – Morska Gradina

The Sea Garden is a beautifully designed park near the port. It’s bisected by two large walkways with trees on both sides, and a grass median between the walkways. Go for a walk here and take in the sights, sounds and smells of the port city.

Golden Sands

Varna also has beaches featuring pony rides (for children) and local musical performers. Sculptures, mosaics, and other outdoor arts makes it more than just a place to relax on the sand.
