Kos Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Insider Tips

Kos Shopping

Looking for trinkets or authentic goods from Greece’s Dodecanese Islands, or curious where the best markets are? Here are some shopping tips for the Greek island of Kos.

La Strada

Looking for authentic, local leather? La Strada is the place for you. While it’s listed as a “Leather Gift Shop” there’s far more to peruse, from bracelets to belts. Best of all might just be the smell of leather when you walk into the store.

Market of Kos

Kos’s main market is in Eleftherias Square. The market starts to bustle in the evening: to ditch the masses, wander through around mid-day. You can find a wide range of vendors here, and it’s easy to go at your own pace. Many of the goods sold here are touristy souvenir items and much of it isn’t made on the island. With that said, it’s still fun to keep an eye out for treasures and sales.

Konstantinos

This department and grocery store is a chain throughout the region. You won’t find handcrafted goods here, but it may be worth seeing what’s in store at a more modern store. You’ll find styles and designs that aren’t available back home. While not a must-see destination for shopping, if you’re looking for more regional designer options, this is the spot to go.

Agora

This is an indoor market with local fruits and vegetables. It isn’t as hectic as other shops and markets, so you won’t have crowds to deal with. There are also a few tourist items, but really it is designed to give you a fresh taste on some of the local bounty.

Divas

Divas is a great shopping spot, especially if you know when to go. Toward the end of the holiday season the tourists crowds start to thin out and sales emerge. Items are often heavily discounted in order to move and make room for the incoming stock.

Try Local Beer

Stop by the local grocery stores and pick up a few of the regional beers. The majority of these beers are not available in the States and use local ingredients, so you may discover a new favorite beer or unique flavor you enjoy.
