Fiesole Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

The Tuscan countryside has long been a haven for those who love art, sunshine, and great food. This is as true as ever today for those who want to reach the easily reached Tuscan town of Fiesole.

Fiesole Transportation

Fiesole lies a short distance from the thriving hub of Florence. It towers above the city a mere northeast of the city. Long a getaway for the rich elite of Florence, it remains a popular destination for many visitors to Florence. It is the richest city in Tuscany that welcomes tourists residents alike and thus has many ways of getting of there from many nearby places in Italy.

Getting There by Bus

While some people choose to drive to Fiesole, many people find it makes better sense for them to take a public bus. Parking in Fiesole can be hard to find while public buses come often and offer air conditioned comfort. Catching a bus is easy. You can get the 7/7x . It runs regularly here from Florence and will take you about twenty minutes once you’re on the bus. You will need to buy tickets before you get on the bus. These are sold by the newsagents booth that you can find in the center of the piazza. Tickets will cost you a few Euros. You can also buy tickets for the bus from the driver, but this will cost you more so you’re better off buying them at the agent. You will need to get the tickets validated on the bus. If you don’t get them validated, you might be facing a fine if you get caught. Inspectors will board the bus and double check all the passengers.

A Quick Ride

Buses to Fiesole leave about every fifteen minutes until about 10 p.m. After that, they leave every half hour. It’s a good idea to buy tickets for your return trip as well in Florence as you will not find ticket machines in Fiesole. The bus stops at a few places along the way to Fiesole so you can get a good look at the surrounding countryside on the way there. Fiesole is the last step. The last bus runs at 1 a.m. so plan your trip here accordingly.
