El Nido is a thriving marine environmental and protected area with white sand, vibrant fish populations, clear waters, underwater caves, and coral reefs. The entire area is studded with rock formations jutting out of the water, creating stunning views and great diving. Here’s what to bring to get the most out of your trip.

No matter what you have planned for your El Nido adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.

Clothing, Shoes, and Weather Gear

Of course, dress appropriately for whatever activities you will be doing, but some staples that you should bring in all cases are water-sensible shoes or sandals, a light wind breaker (it will get wet and windy while island hopping), beach wear, sunglasses, and sun-protective clothing. You might also consider a Body Glove or other skin suit for UV and bite protection. If you are serious about snorkeling, this is a must-have because jelly fish stings are unavoidable.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies

Bring your basic first aid stuff and regular meds, making sure to include an antiseptic like Neosporin, Anti-itch cream (any 1% hydrocortisone), Benadryl tablets, Tegaderm Transparent Dressing by 3M, and re-hydration packets. Also bring whatever shampoo/conditioner you prefer.

Photo Equipment

Always take extra batteries, film, and memory cards. El Nido is a photographer’s paradise so you might run out of these things faster than you think. Also, many visitors have a ton of fun with waterproof cameras and GoPros. If you’re at all into taking pictures or videos, bring all your equipment because this is the place to use it.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear

Your own snorkeling equipment would be good to bring, but there are rentals available. You can camp on the islands with a permit from the Municipal Tourism Office, so plan out what camping gear you need. All gear for water sports is available in Miniloc and you can use it for free once you sign up for various activities.

Miscellaneous

Bring plenty of sunblock and mosquito repellant. Also, it can be very helpful to have some cash on hand, and some visitors have found it helpful to have citronella candles, an LED flash light (preferably a battery-free, hand-crank light), and extras of whatever batteries or other accessories you use, as finding replacements might not be as easy as it is back home.
