Tijuana Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Tijuana Shopping

Tijuana Mexico is a colorful city full of bustling vendors and busy street artists. If you’re headed there for shopping, you’re sure to have a fun time doing it. Here’s what to know about Tijuana shopping – shops, stores, best buys, and inside tips to get you started.

Best Shops

If you’re looking for great footwear and excellent service, check out Javier Zaragoza’s shop one block off Revolution Ave, between 3rd and 4th on Madera Avenue. He’ll help you find the best handmade item and will work with you on the price.

The Ramirez stained glass shop is another stop for anyone who loves glasswork items. Not only are there many beautiful art pieces available for immediate purchase, but if you have time and have something specific in mind, you can order a custom piece. From colorful humming birds to jumping dolphins, you can dress up your home with window pieces, lampshades, and much more.

Must-Have Items

When visiting Mexico there are several items that are “must haves” to bring home. Whether you want a souvenir, or a gift to bring to someone back home, these are the classic items to look for.

At many of the vendors you can find beautifully painted little ceramic boxes. Usually in bright colors like red and blue, these are perfect for coin jars or jewelry boxes, and can be found for only a few bucks. You can also find beautifully ornate crosses that are hand painted by local artists, colorful cowboy hats, hand-painted pottery, and handmade hammocks.

Inside Tips

As far as tips go, when shopping in Tijuana there is one thing you never want to forget: prices are flexible! If you can get good at bartering you’ll leave with plenty of treasures for half the original price. As soon as you look like you’re going to put the item down and just walk away, they’ll start to offer you a lower price. Try it out.

Also, be aware of scams and poor quality items. While many pharmacies claim much cheaper prices than in the U.S., they also may end up charging you more than first agreed upon if you’re not careful.
