Survey Says: Travel Increases Your Sex Appeal

Trying to pick up fellow singles? Whip out your passport or casually drop references to your last vacation into the conversation. A survey from Intrepid Travel and dating website MySingleFriend.com finds that eight out of ten people are more attracted to daters who are interested in travel. (Click here to view the entire survey.)

What is it that makes travelers so irresistible? The survey respondents said that it was because they thought that people who like to travel would be more open-minded, adventurous, and cultured (and for those gold-diggers out there, it was a sign that they had more money to spend on luxuries).

Coupled up? The survey also says that most people found it acceptable to take a joint vacation with a significant other only after dating for at least two to six months, so don’t invite someone on a trip with you as a second date.

Once you’ve made it past the first few months of dating, what should you do on that first romantic trip? Well, here’s where you start making the first relationship compromises. The number one choice for women is taking a cultural city break and checking out galleries, museums, and monuments. However, most men prefer to take get off the beaten track and explore someplace exotic, or to get sweaty biking, sailing, or hiking on an active vacation.

Check out these “best worst travel pick-up lines” compiled by Lonely Planet, which range from the tame and cheesy (“You must be from Prague, because I can’t help but Czech you out”), to the racy (“If you were a TSA agent, I’d be happy to get a body scan”).
