Weekly Weird: Surprise Baby on Board!

A baby snuck aboard an Aeroflot flight this week by making an unexpected appearance mid-air. Bloomberg reports that a passenger gave birth during a flight from Ukraine to Moscow. The woman was only around 30 weeks pregnant, so the baby was quite the surprise! The flight made an emergency landing, and both mother and baby are reportedly doing well.

Another week, another report of the TSA mistreating flyers. The Huffington Post reports that a passenger alleges that a TSA Agent hit him (on purpose) during a screening. They quote the flyer, Steven deForest, as saying, “I chose to opt out of the backscatter X-ray and submit to a physical search … A bulky young TSA agent came over to pat me down. He told me to turn around. He was using his command voice, barking orders. I told him that I wasn’t comfortable turning away from my luggage, which had already been screened, and wanted to keep it in my sight.” During the pat down, deForest says (regarding the screener), “as he raised his hands he was looking at me, then he gave a quick flick and smacked me in one of my testicles.”

In other painful TSA news, a passenger at LAX alleges that a TSA agent stole $100 from his wallet during a security screening. NBC News reports that a flyer claims that he put his wallet in a bin to be X-rayed, only to have it returned to him $100 lighter. TSA Agent Clyde Reese was arrested on suspicion of theft, following the incident.
