Beginning on July 1, members of JetBlue’s TrueBlue program will be able to earn points for flights on Dubai-based Emirates—one point for every two miles flown on Emirates in discount coach, one point per mile flown in full-fare coach, one point per mile flown plus a 25 percent bonus in business, and one point per mile flown plus a 50 percent bonus in first.
Emirates serves more than 120 destinations, including Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco.
To promote the partnership, TrueBlue members can earn double points when flying Emirates between July 1 and September 30. If the qualifying Emirates flights include connections from/to JetBlue flights, members will earn double points on the JetBlue segments as well. Registration is required.
As is customary with such tie-ups, the relationship is a bilateral one: Members of Emirates’ Skywards program will be able to earn miles when flying on JetBlue—up to one mile per mile flown for full coach. And there’s a double-mile promotion in effect from July 1 through September 30.
Reciprocal award redemption is set to begin in February 2013.
With this new addition to the partner roster, JetBlue continues to chip away at one of the longstanding criticisms of TrueBlue, that the program features too few options for earning and awards. The addition of Emirates may not be a home run, but it’s a solid double.
