Note: Our guest blogger program is on hiatus. We are not currently accepting submissions from guest bloggers.
Do you have great travel tips you want to share with the world? Have you just returned from the best trip ever? Or the worst one? We’re looking for new writers to feature on SmarterTravel, and you could be one of them as a guest writer for our Today in Travel blog!
Contribute as either a guest blogger or a trip reporter (look for more details on both below) for your chance at fortune and glory. Oh, wait—scratch that part about “fortune.” We do not pay our guest bloggers. Let’s focus on the “glory” part instead. You’ll get a credited byline, have your work read by our travel-hungry online community, and be given the opportunity to promote your blog, book, or other project to an audience of millions. Also, you’ll retain the distribution rights to your work. (Read our complete guest blogger agreement here.) Please note that we cannot offer “do follow” links on guest posts, and that authors are limited to three posts per person.
If you wish to link to anything other than a personal blog or website in your post (i.e, a company website, hotel booking engine, etc.), please go here for more information on our advertising program. Only independent bloggers will be considered for our guest blogs.
We’re looking for posts of around 600 to 800 words on any travel topic. Specific, how-to travel advice will get our attention and make us more likely to select your submission. We like stories that focus on insider tips, whether those tips are secret things to do in a popular destination, great “undiscovered” destinations, or money-saving and time-saving strategies for travelers. Lists of tips, tricks, things to do, and places to go often earn top billing in one of our newsletters and on our homepage.
Are you riding high from a recent trip? Great—tell all your friends about it. Better yet, tell the world! Share the juicy details from a recent getaway (anything within one calendar year) and you can finally fulfill your dream of becoming a published travel writer. We want concise trip reports of 300 to 500 words (read an example here) that include the highlights, lowlights, and unique savings strategies for anyone wishing to follow in your footsteps. And, of course, we welcome colorful visuals, too—you may submit up to seven photos.
Shameless self-promoters should most definitely apply! We’ll work as a team to figuratively hit the pavement with your story (our website and newsletters, plus Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, et cetera) and we’re looking for trip reporters who’ll do the same. We want writers who believe in their work and want to help share it.
Interested? E-mail a guest blog or trip report story pitch to us at email@example.com with the subject line “Guest blog submission.” If we like your idea, we’ll ask you to write the post. Questions? Comments? Feel free to email those as well.
