ATA Airlines discontinuing Chicago service

You may be out of luck if you’ve recently booked a flight on ATA Airlines through Chicago’s Midway Airport. Midway has been a hub for ATA since 1992, but the airline announced it will discontinue domestic service starting April 14, 2008. International flights will end shortly thereafter on June 7, 2008.

This cessation in service will affect the low-cost carrier’s flights to Oakland, California, and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, as well as Cancun and Guadalajara, Mexico. Flights between Hawaii and the West Coast will remain intact.

ATA blames skyrocketing fuel costs for having to discontinue service, but it promises customers will be fully refunded for any unused ticket portions affected by the decision.
