VIA Rail Canada continues to offer quickie promotions. The latest: 50 percent off regular high-season fares on routes throughout the country.

The sale includes both regular coach and sleeper services. Here are some sample fares:

• Toronto to Vancouver: $682 CAD in an upper berth or $1,029 CAD per person in a sleeper compartment.
• $239 CAD for a dome-car seat on the scenic Jasper-to-Prince Rupert trip.
