Receive Free Perks with Swiss Rail Pass
Rail Europe's latest promotion offers two add-on features at no extra cost when you buy an eight-day first-class Swiss rail pass:
- Eight days' use of a Pocket Connect device that provides a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, anywhere in Switzerland, for Internet connectivity with no roaming or use charges. Leave a deposit of 129 francs, refundable on return; pay 4 francs a day for use beyond the initial eight days. The Pocket Connect device can serve up to four local devices with Wi-Fi capability. As far as I can tell, it works through the local Swisscom wireless telephone or data network and does not require that you be in a Wi-Fi zone. Although many of today's smartphones can also act as mobile hotspots, using them when you travel typically entails roaming and use charges. The offer is limited to one device per booking, so a couple or family would get only one.
- One same-day station-to-station baggage transfer, one bag per traveler, between any pair of 46 cities within Switzerland.
Eight-day Swiss rail passes cost $679 for a single person or $1,154 for a couple traveling together at all times. These passes cover almost all Swiss rail services, including the Glacier Express, Golden Pass, and William Tell Express that are not included in multi-country Eurail passes. They also cover public transit in 41 cities and no-charge admission to more than 400 Swiss museums.
Book through July 30, start travel within six months of purchase, and complete travel by December 31. This offer is limited and may be terminated at any time.
