With a temperate climate and major events throughout the year, Frankfurt is a city for all seasons. The most popular time to go is during the summer, when schools are on vacation and the weather is at its warmest. November and December are also busy times to go, when the Christmas Market lights up the city and enchants visitors.
The least popular time is in the late winter when temperatures drop and there are fewer events. Spring and fall can be ideal times to visit the city, as there are fewer crowds and lower prices, but trade shows can cause a high visitor demand.
- high season: June to August, mid-November to December
- low season: January to March
- shoulder season: September to mid-November, April to May
Frankfurt experiences four seasons, characterized by a temperate continental climate. Summers can be warm, with occasional showers and high temperatures in the 70s. Spring and fall see temperatures between the 40s and the 60s. Winters can get cold, with a chance of violent storms and highs dropping into the 30s.
Frankfurt gets busy during major events such as the Museum Embankment Festival (in German only) in August, the Rheingau Wine Festival in August and September, and the Christmas Market at the end of November through December.
Hotels, shops, and attractions remain open throughout the year. However, some shops may close during holidays such as Easter and Christmas.
