When to Visit Austin

With warm year-round weather and affordable pricing, Austin is a popular vacation spot. Spring and fall are the busiest times to visit, with major festivals, comfortable weather, and University of Texas football games from September through November.

The least popular time to visit is summer, especially in July, when temperatures can get hot. Winter sees a drop in temperatures, visitation, and prices, but events still take place.

Weather Information

Austin experiences warm weather year-round. Summers can be particularly warm, with temperatures reaching into the high 90s, and occasionally up to 100 degrees. Winter temperatures hover around 60 degrees. Spring and fall can be warm, with temperatures ranging between the low 70s and high 80s.

Crowd Information

Austin is home to major music and film festivals, including South by Southwest in March, and the Austin City Limits Music Festival and Austin Film Festival in October. Other festivals such as the Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival in April and the Texas Book Festival in October and November also attract large crowds. The Republic of Texas Biker Rally in June is another popular event. UT football games also cause quite a stir throughout the season.

Hotels, shops, and attractions remain open year-round.

When to Save

Packages and deals are offered in the summer, December, and over the holidays. Prices rise with major festivals in March and September.
