This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of famous Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin, the nation is celebrating in style, making it the perfect time to visit. In the fall lower airfare to major cities is another tempting reason to explore the cultural offerings in this great Eastern European nation. I compared flights to Warsaw and Krakow, and found savings of up to $579.
| Route | Off-Peak Rate | Peak Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Boston-Warsaw | $688 | $950 |
| Dallas-Krakow | $913 | $1,492 |
| Seattle-Warsaw | $843 | $1,311 |
Off-peak rates are based on travel from November 9 through 16; peak travel prices are based on travel from June 21 to 28. All fares were found using Travelocity and include all taxes and fees.
Warsaw was recently cited as having one of the best value in accommodations in the world, and the savings are even more prominent during the off-season. Also, take advantage of fall specials around the country, especially in Chopin's native Warsaw, where the Jan III Sobieski has a Chopin package that includes a sightseeing tour and daily breakfast. In Krakow, the Hotel Amber offers a Winter Special beginning in November.
